Design Purpose
Grocery shopping can be time-consuming and stressful, especially for busy people, the elderly, and those with disabilities. Our solution is an autonomous grocery store on wheels that brings groceries directly to the customer's doorstep.
This application aims to provide a convenient, accessible, and user-friendly shopping experience. Users can view products, book a time and place for the vehicle to arrive, make purchases and payments autonomously, or shop and pay online before picking up their items. Additionally, users can track the vehicle's location in real-time. This innovative solution makes grocery shopping easier and more accessible for everyone.
Discover
Conducted user interviews, online ethnograghy and market research to identify the key pain points and requirements of users. Gathered insights into user behavior and preferences to inform the design strategy.
Interviewed people from three different user target types and we hope to draw some user ideas and needs from the interviews.
Use online ethnography to understand and observe the attitude and evaluation of wheelcart potential users towards online grocery stores, so as to better design the scheme for wheelcart.

Competitor Analysis
Moby Mart
It's a driverless convenience store on wheels. In addition to being used by chains, these stores can be set up at bus stops in remote areas, offering coffee, seating and some retail goods.
The store module has a wide range of uses and audiences, enabling consumers to buy what they want no matter where they are.
Robomart
By providing services to wholesalers and large retailers, it transports products from supermarket shelves to customers' doorsteps. By collaborating with retailers and grocers to replace and cover parts of the conventional local convenience stores, customers can shop online and conveniently pick up items at home on schedule.
Next order
The majority of restaurants are gathered on this platform, where clients can place online orders and order delivery.Customers have a large selection of restaurants to choose from, and all online orders track the driver's whereabouts in real time with the goal of enabling customers to stay at home or receive their ordered meals close by.
Domino’s pizza
Customers are able to monitor their order's progress in real time through the Domino's Live Pizza Tracker.
This enables customers to schedule a convenient time to pick up their purchases from our locations, and it also informs consumers at home of the delivery date and time for their orders.
Define
Through the surveys and research in interviews, online ethnography and competitor analysis, I have summarised the following important findings, they are the EXCEPTIONS and CONCERNS of the target users, which will be applied to the design for a better output of the product.
Key Findings
Self-selection
Our wheelcart allows customers to choose their own products, avoiding with the quality of items picked by employees in traditional online grocery stores.
Displays inventory quantity and production date
Allow users to view manufacturing dates and soldout status of products so that they can easily determine whether they are fresh and available.
Special service
We offer robot delivery and packaging services for special groups like the elderly, disabled, and mentally disabled who may face difficulties in moving and communicating with strangers.
Show wrheelcart’s real-time location
Allows users to view the wheelcart's location after placing an order and the progress of whether the item is sorted and packaged.
Time and Location
Accurate arrival times and locations are essential so customers can avoid long waits, know exactly when to expect the cart, and receive their goods promptly and efficiently.
Add a note column to the order page
If users have special needs, such as no packaging, or need any extra help, they can write in the note column, so that we can provide services to users in a timely manner.
Develop
Designed low-fidelity prototypes and iterated based on user feedback and key findings. Developed high-fidelity prototypes to refine the user interface and experience. Conducted usability testing and Heuristic Evaluation to identify and address any issues.

Reflection
The Grocery on Wheels project was a pivotal experience in my journey as a UX/UI designer. This project taught me the importance of user-centred design and the complexities involved in creating an accessible and inclusive application. One of the most significant challenges I faced was understanding the diverse needs of our target audience. Through extensive user research, including interviews and surveys, I discovered that users had a wide range of requirements. Balancing these varied needs while ensuring the app remained user-friendly was a demanding task.
In conclusion, Wheelcarts project was a transformative experience that deepened my understanding of user-centered design, iterative development, and accessibility. The challenges faced and overcome during this project have significantly shaped my approach to UX/UI design, emphasizing the importance of empathy, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
